The offical name for the mountain is Jabal Umm Ad Dami and it is the highest in Jordan at 6083ft. From the summit, on a clear day, you can see the Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea!
It takes one hour to get to the mountain by jeep from our camp inside the protected area of Wadi Rum, which is located near the Abu Khashaba canyon.
The wilderness of Paran is where Abraham's son Ishmael dwelt. It is also an area that Moses and the people passed through during the Exodus from Egypt.
At two-thirds of the way up, the view is already stunning. The mountain has a false summit and a ridge so it is misleading to judge the length of the climb when at the base of the mountain.
It's a treat after the long hike to enjoy some hot Bedouin tea at the top of Jabal Umm Ad Dami! Click for more information on the full hike itinerary.
